I called maternity triage very late at night this week due concern about reduced fetal movements @ 35 weeks. The midwife on the phone was very polite and listened to my concern and advised I needed to attend to be checked. She did advise that the department was busy and to bring refreshments with me.
I arrived with my husband and as explained they had no capacity to see me straight away. My husband stayed outside in corridor until I was called which was very surprisingly only after 10/15 mins.
I was seen by a midwife ( unfortunately I cannot remember her name) who was very polite, professional and welcoming and put me at ease. I was placed on motioning and my BP & HR were checked. My husband was allowed in while monitoring continued for 30mins.
After this time everything was ok with my babies movements and reassurance was given by the midwife.
I am a nurse and know all too well the pressure the staff are under during this pandemic and I would like to provide some positive feedback for the staff working that night and give recognition to the professionalism shown.
This is the second time during my pregnancy where I have had a positive experience with maternity and antenatal care.
"Giving recognition to the professionalism shown."
