"Was better first time around "

About: Russells Hall Hospital

Had both my sons at the maternity unit here. First time around apart from the consultant being a bit square. I had great care (2017) fast forward 3 years and include a pandemic and well , all I can say is the level of care was quite poor. The main thing I want to get across is the surgeons and theatre team were great. But staff on wards not so good. Had to report it in to the head matron. Advice is to speak to her if you had a bad experience they can help you talk through it all. I understand covid is putting the hospital and staff under duress. But that should not stop staff performing their job with care and consideration for the patient. Just glad to have gotten us both out alive and covid free too.

Thank you for posting your feedback about your experience following your visit to the Maternity department. We aim to offer the highest standards of care and respect to all our patients, and so it is good to hear you feel you received high levels of care from the theatre and surgery team.

It is very disappointing to learn that your experience was not so positive on the maternity ward and we must apologise for this. We would welcome the opportunity to investigate your concerns in more detail to prevent a reoccurrence of the poor attitude you have experienced.

Please contact our Patient Advice and Liaison Service (PALS) on free phone 0800 073 0510 or email dgft.pals@nhs.net who will be happy to support you with this.
