About: Rosie Hospital

We recently gave birth to our little boy in November 2020 at the rosie. After all my midwife appointments they had assured me I was fine to go into the birthing centre, however upon ringing the morning I was in labour they said I was unable to because of bmi. I was highly disappointed as this should of been picked up by midwives if this was the case, also after watching the rosie Facebook live it said people with high bmi could still go into the birthing centre so this was the first downfall. When I went into the assessment unit everyone was lovely and took me into the labour ward and I had a lovely midwife who was very encouraging gutted I can't remember her name. She then went on break so I had another midwife who I didn't click with as much but was assured the first midwife was coming back. However they then decided she was going elsewhere. With all the chopping and changing I completely lost my mojo and wanted an epidural which they did administer quick and all staff were fab. Although I hasten to add not one midwife read my birth plan. The midwives then changed shifts so I had another midwife who again was lovely. The birth was then good, aside from a couple of emergency button presses. Me and my husband then got to spend about 6 hours together before he then had to leave and we got transferred to the ward I'm not sure of the ward name but the said it was a bit like nicu for the mums! Which was amazing and got amazing care. I then got moved onto lady Mary ward which wasn't as positive. I just felt very let down as I know there so busy and they just didn't have the time to help me. And with the covid rules my husband was only allowed in for 2 hours a day which was extremely hard! I was kept in for 2 days even though each day they promised me I was going to be discharged and then had to tell me I wouldn't be. On the day of discharge they still were toying with me wether I would be discharged or not and in the end I wasnt discharged till 11pm which was crazy considering they said I could be discharged at 4pm! Overall a mixed review covid definitely didn't help the situation. However if I was to have another baby I would still go to the rosie, and hopefully not have too stay in or have covid rules in place!!
