I was taken by ambulance to SAU a few days before Christmas and underwent emergency hernia surgery at midnight followed by transfer to Montacute ward.
The ambulance team and every member of staff at Musgrove showed kindness and professionalism in their dealings with me, not only in the wards but also the X-ray Dept, Operating theatre, and the Ultrasound Scanning Dept. I cannot speak too highly of the care, concern and kindness from everybody that I came into contact with from surgeons, doctors, nurses, health care assistants, cleaners, porters, and staff in the X-ray departments.
As you can imagine it is a daunting thought to be away from your loved ones at this special time of year and it was no different for me. The fact that all these staff members volunteered to give up their Christmases to come in to work and care for patients is really touching and very much appreciated. Everybody worked with a cheerful spirit and many of them went that extra mile to make me feel special including providing a delicious Christmas lunch complete with cracker and a few words of kindness.
In particular, one of the cleaners went to great lengths to brighten me up with his chat whilst performing his tasks very competently, he could have just come in dusted and wiped and gone out again, job done!
I will always be grateful for the way I was cared for during what has been a very difficult time for everyone.
