"Ultrasound - Women and Children Dept"

About: Forth Valley Royal Hospital / Maternity unit

(as a staff member),

I had to attend my anomaly scan by myself due to restrictions and childcare issues.  I felt alone sitting while others had someone with them.  (I understand the restrictions and that’s not what I am focusing on - just wanted to give a background of how I felt). I was seen by Maureen and honestly she couldn’t have been nicer!  She made me feel at ease and I soon forgot I was there by myself (3rd baby).  She explained everything she was doing and even when baby was super wriggly she tried to get/see what she needed.  She was lovely!

I had to come back for closer check of baby’s heart due to it wriggling and seen Dr Holmes.  My partner thankfully was free to come and Dr Holmes was excellent!  He talked us through everything and couldn’t have been nicer!  Just wanted to thank both Maureen and Dr Holmes for their care.  It’s a difficult time just now and it is always nice hearing something positive.

Dear DH88.

Thank you so much for your lovely feedback. I hope you are keeping well and your wee baby continues to be super wriggly, reassuring you!

As you say, these are extremely difficult times so I totally understand your feelings waiting alone for an anomaly scan but want to thank you for being so understanding. It makes things that bit easier for everyone.

Maureen is a real cheery character and will have been great reassuring you. I know she will be chuffed to read your feedback.

I’m glad that your partner was able to attend for your follow-up check as this would have been another anxious moment. Dr Holmes is lovely and also gives excellent care and reassurance. I will make sure he also has a copy of your posting

Thank you again for taking the time to share your experience with us.

Wishing you a lovely Christmas-time with your family.

Kind regards

Gail
