"Hospital aftercare"

About: Glasgow Royal Infirmary / Cardiology (Wards 19, 24, 43a, 43b & 44a) Golden Jubilee National Hospital / Cardiac Surgery

(as a service user),

I had open heart surgery in August 2020 and I can’t fault the care I received from the ICU, HDU and the ward nursing staff this is not a reflection of their care as it was first class at all times.

I was discharged in the middle of August and never heard from anyone until October when I called up to see if I was to get a follow up which I was told I would after 6 weeks I was told I was now under GRI to which I replied I hadn’t had a follow up. I seen someone on the Sunday to which it was said all looked ok, with no scans and X-ray, I still haven’t heard from anyone and that is after my doctor sending letters and myself leaving voicemails and a contact number I am due back at work in January with very little rehab, got sent video. I understand the conditions at present as I am an NHS staff member but I have to say my aftercare has been very disappointing I have now received a letter for GRI for the end of August 2021, when had been told it would be six months after op.

Dear plutohh99

Thank you for your post regarding your recent experience. It is lovely to read that your care was first class, throughout your inpatient journey in ICU, HDU and the ward. I will be sure to pass this onto them.

I am saddened to read of your discharge experience and I would like the opportunity to assist in any way that I can, alongside GRI. Please can you contact me on 0141 951 5951.

I look forward to hearing from you.

Regards

Paula
