During the 9 months of Covid I cannot complain about the service Parchmore Medical Centre provides.
Social prescribing has provided a voluminous amount of support for those with mental health problems, are in financial difficulties, or require the support of other outside healthcare professionals.
For example, physiotherapists who can provide patients with exercises, or direct patients who have access to the internet links that will enable them to do exercise via zoom. They can make referrals to Age UK who can provide support with form filling for those less able to do so. The Carer's Association will provide information about a number of other services available for those in this group who work tirelessly to ensure those they care for have their needs met.
All of these services have been put in place to improve the quality of patients' lives. In addition, patients can telephone for a doctor's consultation where advice can be given if patients are concerned about having the COVID vaccine.
Patients are able to attend the surgery and should follow guidance. Wearing a face covering or mask that covers their nose and mouth protecting the staff who are working over and beyond their duties to ensure the welfare of its patients and all those who attend, is paramount.
Direction can also be provided to Food Stop, a facility offered for people who find themselves in difficulties and require such assistance.
Having mentioned all of the above, the local community is fortunate to have a surgery that opens its doors as, some surgeries have closed their doors to patients, as a result of the pandemic.
