Hi, I’m a 36 yr old mum of 2 from Nottinghamshire. For the past 4 years my husband has been alcohol dependant. It’s been extremely difficult for him and us all as a family, as he couldn’t stop even if he wanted too! In 2020, he made a brave step and signed up to our local support group, ‘CGL Nottinghamshire’, who support those who suffer from addiction. I found the team of people there so supportive, non judgmental and ready to go at everyone’s pace. I noticed an immediate change in my husbands outlook and readiness to stop. He founds friendship and understanding in the groups and one on care sessions. So, with their help, my husband was offered a home medical detox. The CGL team of carers, support workers, nurses and doctors rallied around him and walked him through every step. For me as his partner, it was a HUGE relief to know that my husband had people in his life that knew what they were talking about and could point him in the right direction and give him the tools he needed to take control of his life.
The home detox was excellent! We had multiple phones calls a day from a nurse, home visits from an incredible support officer, John. Who was so inspirational in his encouragement, advice and care. We were provided with all the equipment we needed to carry out the detox safely at home so we both felt in control and prepared for what to expect.
My husband has now been sober for the first time in years and he could never have done it without the care and support of CGL Nottinghamshire. I cannot thank them enough for giving me my husband back. You have saved his life! Thank you x
"You've given me my husband back"
