Early in 2020, I attended Dr Grays Hosptal with a swelling on my left index finger. After seeing the orthopaedic surgeon, he arranged for various x-rays, ultrasound and MRI examinations, culminating with a biopsy to ascertain the exact nature of the swelling. The biopsy results confirmed that it was a non-malignant lopoma. Eight weeks later I was called as a day patient for the lipoma to be removed under a local anaestetic.
Throughout the whole episode, I received absolutely marvellous care and attention from all the surgical and nursing staff, and the consultant, Mr Papadopoulos was simply brilliant and caring. I can honestly say that I actually enjoyed the surgical procedure, as I was kept fully informed about the procedure as it progressed and was able to talk to the theatre staff and Mr Papadopoulos. And all this took place during the 2020 Covid procedures with a minimum of delays during the investigative procedures and subsequent operations. The swelling has vanished and the finger is perfect with no visible scarring at all.
"Excellent care and attention"
