"Waste of time having to go private"

About: Princess Royal Hospital (Haywards Heath)

I was first referred to gynaecology at PRUH back in 2017, however they cancelled and rebooked on me four times, each time telling me im 'not priority' (despite having had treatment for cervical cancer previously!).

When they cancelled on me for the fourth time i explained i had now run out of leave allowance at work due to all the last minute let-downs, and requested something outside working hours. They could/would not facilitate this, so i was discharged having never been seen.

After being re-referred by my GP i was given another appointment for this September 2020, that was cancelled and rebooked AGAIN for April 2021. I was at breaking point by this stage and could not cope with the pain and discomfort anymore after so many years, so ended up spending thousands of pounds on private surgery. This resolved a good deal of my problems however i still experience constant internal pain and heavy bleeding.

My April 2021 appointment was suddenly brought forward due to a cancellation and i was seen a few days ago. I was so glad that someone would finally be investigating. Imagine my shock, after waiting years for this appointment, to just be told "go on the pill or have a coil or implant fitted" -I was not examined in any way and my pain was shrugged off by the gynaecologist as if it is nothing. I suffer severe side effects from the pill/ implant/ anything that interferes with my hormones, so was adamant i am not going down that road. The gynaecologist was clearly irritated by this and gave me a prescription for tablets for heavy bleeding instead. He said the pharmacy would advise on doseage instructions, however they didnt have a clue, so ive just got a giant paper bag of tablets that im not sure what to do with, and am no closer to knowing why i am in pain all the time.

I am increasingly worried about what this pain is, especially as I've had a brush with cervical cancer in the past.

I'm now about to plunge myself even further into debt by going private again, to actually find out what is wrong and hopefully get it treated.

After years of being messed around and let down, I have absolutely zero faith and trust left in the gynaecology service.
