Was brought in by ambulance and admitted to A&E for acute chest pain with suspicion of a heart disorder. A&E staff were very efficient and professional. However, once admitted to the Tayberry Ward, the nightmare started. Understaffed with doctors who can make real decisions in real time. Senior patients left crying out loud for help with little attention given. It was not me personally, but was painful to witness this disgrace and shambles of service, bed ridden patients being treated in such an appalling way. The specialist doctor only came to me once about 20 hours after getting through A&E. Said something, promised to come and provide an update the next day... and never came again for 3 days... Over 3 days pointlessly taking my usual obs (temperature, saturation, BP), without addressing the cause of why I was brought in - near blackout & very irregular heart rate. Lack of qualified “hands” was very visible. And this is in comparison to St. Barts Hospital which is un the same NHS Trust and which provides excellent care (know from another experience). Newham doesn’t just “need improvement”, but “needs serious improvement and preferably in the foreseeable future”.
"Awful experience"
