"The wonderful care I received from a GP"

I was very unwell in the middle of the Covid-19 crisis with  Covid like symptoms.   Under normal circumstances I would have visited my GP but I was faced with contacting the specialist Covid-19 service who ran through a comprehensive assessment. As a result a referral was made to my GP within 20 minutes of my call who called me soon after.   He listened attentively and was convinced, despite a negative Covid-19 test, that I was Covid positive but gave me some antiobiotics just in case.  

However, I quickly became acutely unwell. It was quite scary for both me and my family, believing I had Covid-19 despite two negative results.   He rang me every day for the next four days and thankfully saw me face-to-face.   He performed a blood test and diagnosed a bacterial infection which fairly quickly resolved with antibiotic treatment. It was not the speedy diagnosis I want to highlight, though this was important, but his attentiveness, kindness and the daily telephone call he made to check how I was feeling and whether I was making progress.   He made a significant difference to me and my family as we were reassured that I was in safe hands.
