"Contacting the ward"

About: Royal Cornwall Hospital (Treliske) / Older people's healthcare

(as a relative),

I'm sure that my relative is being well care for but please, please, please answer the phone. So far, out of 49 telephone calls in 24 hours both to the ward and switchboard, I have managed to get through 3 times. My relative left home in an ambulance and forgot her mobile phone. She is very poorly and we can't visit. Please answer your phones. I know you are busy, I've been a Registered Nurse for 30 years....but it is unacceptable and beyond frustrating to have so many calls go unheeded.

Dear River-Nurse,

Thank you for taking the time to share your story with us. I was very sorry to read that you have been having trouble getting through to the ward where your relative was being cared for, I can see how frustrating this must have been for you. It would be really helpful to know which ward your relative was on so that I can share this story with them. If you would be happy to provide this information, please do so by replying to this message. If you do not feel comfortable sharing this on Care Opinion, you can email me rch-tr.ppi@nhs.net

I can see that you also had problems trying to get through to the ward via the Switchboard so I will also share this story with them so they can reflect on your experience and frustration in trying to contact the ward.

Thank you again for sharing your story with us.

Best wishes,

Jess
