"Thanks to Cancer Helpline, A&E & ward staff"

About: Aberdeen Royal Infirmary / Cancer Services (Medical Oncology)

(as the patient),

Having been on chemotherapy treatment for the last few months, the side effects got the better of me in the early hours of Friday morning.

Firstly, the cancer helpline staff were great.
Then from the moment I arrived in casualty until I left ward 114 the care was fantastic and the staff despite being busy were kind, friendly and put me at ease. I was really impressed with the teamwork in both departments.
I'd like to pass on my thanks to A&E reception, nurses, doctor, nursing assistants, porters and also the oncology nurses, doctor, nursing assistant, student nurse (year 2), ward admin staff, pharmacist, oncology consultants, phlebotomist, domestic assistant. Hopefully I've covered everyone.

Dear Rog74,

Thank you for getting in touch at what must be a stressful time for you. The chemo can have some harsh and unpleasant side effects while it’s working away and it’s really important that our patients have access to help and advice when they need it – we know it makes a big difference to have someone to provide re-assurance in those difficult periods.

It was lovely to read that the kind and friendly staff made you feel at ease during your stay and that you were impressed with the team work. I know all the staff mentioned will be delighted and proud to read your positive words.

I will ensure that your feedback is shared with everyone in ward 114 and I hope you are feeling a little better.

Take care,

Caty

Dear Rog74,

Apologies for the delay in responding but just had this shared with me. Thanks so much for taking the time to provide feedback for the team in the Emergency Department. I will ensure this is shared with them and know it will mean a lot.

I hope you are feeling a bit better

Take care

Julie
