Just over two weeks ago in Nov 2020. I was admitted to Victoria Hospital Kirkcaldy with a enlarged heart caused by excessive fluid collecting in my lungs and various parts of my body. I was suffering from shortness of breath, had a cough constantly and went from being able to walk between 8 to 10 miles a day to struggle walking 100 yards. Phoned NHS24 who got me in for a Covid 19 test that came back negative but the nurse practitioner admitted me because my heart rate was severely elevated and my blood pressure was sky high.
By this point I had felt unwell for 4 days but never thought in a million years I had heart failure. I just want to say how grateful I am to all the staff on ward 23 and admissions 2 at the Victoria Hospital. In particular the staff nurses on ward 23.
Staff nurse Zoe, she went above and beyond her duty of care explaining everything that was happening to me and reassuring me in a truly frightening time. She made me feel at ease with her friendly but very professional manner and I couldn't have asked for a better person to be looking after me. We as a nation should be extremely grateful for our NHS. They do the most amazing job in the most extreme conditions and I wish I had more than words to express how grateful I am.
