I suffer from recurrent urinary tract infections. I awoke today with a full picture of infection - burning on micturition, lower abdominal pain, frequency of micturition, foul smelling urine. I rang the surgery to plan management. I was told very firmly that absolutely no telephone consultation could take place and to ring again tomorrow. I explained that bladder infections are very nasty and was told to go to the chemist, A&E or dial NHS Direct - how is that going to help a 75 year old during a Viral Pandemic? I was told nothing could be done by the Surgery. Does it have to be like this?
