"Exeptional care"

About: Dungannon / Physiotherapy South Tyrone Hospital

(as a service user),

In March 2020 I was attending physio and occupational therapy on A floor South Tyrone Hospital, the care I received from Kieran and Margaret etc was amazing. If you went in feeling down you were guaranteed to leave feeling so much better, and of course the wee cup of tea helped!

Then came lockdown and A floor was redeployed for testing and all classes stopped. Meanwhile I was given my final diagnosis of Motor Neurone Disease, as a 66 year old previously very fit woman this came as a tremendous shock. Where do I turn to now? Then out of the blue I got a call from Eileen in the physio department South Tyrone, who visited me at home and arranged for Jayne (physio) to call with me on a regular basis. Jayne was exceptional she always arrived with a smile on her face and gave me lots of encouragement. Also Colette who made hand splints which I am still using.

I cannot thank all these wonderful people who made such a difference in my life, I will never forget your kindness.

I am Debbie Tumilty Head of Service for Integrated Care Teams and I would like to take the opportunity to respond to your comments.

I regret that your treatment ended during the pandemic and I would like reassure you that services had to change very quickly during the outbreak of this virus, to protect everyone by reducing the spread of the virus.

I am delighted that your treatment was followed up by staff at your home and I will share your positive story with the teams involved.

Thank you for taking the time to share your story, it is most appreciated.
