My husband called for an ambulance because I was very poorly and thought I was going to die. I was taken to pilgrim Boston A&E to find I had hypokalaemia and hypophosphastemia that was causing tachycardia. Although I was drifting in and out of concienceness I was aware how efficient they were at finding the cause and giving me suitable medication. I began to improve within hours of arrival. I have been to various doctors and consultants over the last 18 months with worsening symptoms but no one could diagnose me. I am truly grateful to pilgrim A&E, I really think they saved my life.
The nurses on the ward were fantastic. My only criticism is the inconsistencies between the 3 consultants I saw, each had varying advice as to why I was poorly and aftercare advice. This left me confused as to what I needed to do after I left hospital or whether my illness would return to being so critical. I also read on my discharge letter that I had refused some medication, this was totally untrue, I asked various staff members why I wasn't being sent home with supplements to prevent this happening again. The medication came in 3 journeys from pharmacy which is very time wasting for staff. Overall I am very thankful for everything pilgrim did for me, I really think they saved my life. Many thanks x
