"Mental health system"

About: Borders Community Services / East/West Community Mental Health Team

(as a service user),

I have been sectioned twice but I am no menace to anyone. Someone must have reported me and two policemen came and sectioned me but they are supposed to give me a copy of the sectional paperwork and I have not seen it. This is wrong I was detained against my will. It is not a fair system. I am not a danger to anyone or to myself so why should I be detained for months at a time. I am at home now and am receiving help, CPN come around every 4 weeks and I see a psychiatrist twice a year. The system is very wrong though – no documents.

Dear Scorpiusds68,

I'm sorry to hear of your recent experience regarding your detention. It seems that you are now receiving help from the community mental health team and hope this support is helping.

I would glad to discuss your experience with you and discover what went wrong, also to learn and improve the service. If you would like to contact the team through your CPN or directly on 01896 827270.
