"Kind and friendly team"

Kind and friendly team at Urology Investigation Suite, helped me feel more comfortable about undergoing invasive treatment

I recently had to undergo six weeks worth of Cystitat treatment at the Urology Investigation Suite at Lincoln Hospital.

Prior to the treatment, I'd been suffering with bladder pain for over a year and a half and it was really getting me down. I was a bit nervous about the treatment as I would need to be catheterised each time and I wasn't sure how invasive it was going to be.

All the staff in the urology department were really friendly and helped put me at ease straight away. I was under the care of Amanda, and she was fantastic at making me feel less worried about the treatment and talked every step through with me and really helped make the whole experience a lot easier to deal with. She was also really gentle when administering the treatment and made sure I felt comfortable throughout.

I think when it comes to going through situations like this, having a good relationship with your patients and making them feel less anxious and afraid about going through a treatment can make all the difference. I ended up almost looking forward to attending the Urology Suite because I got to have a good girly catch up with Amanda each time.

The treatment itself, was a lot less invasive then I thought it was going to be and was over really quickly each time, it was no bother going through it and I'm pleased to say it's worked, and my quality of life has already improved dramatically as a result. 

I also want to point out how quickly I got seen to every time, and that I think it was great that I was able to have the same nurse each time, as you got to build up a rapport and you knew what to expect each time, so it made the experience a lot less daunting. Every week, Amanda could talk through my progress and we were able to discuss any changes without having to explain it to someone new each time. Thank you to the fantastic Urology team and keep up the great work!
