About: Pinderfields General Hospital

Upon being admitted to a ward and testing negative to covid I was then exposed to a person testing positive. Whilst I appreciate that all care is taken I personally have been shielding since February and I am also undergoing chemotherapy. I feel that the necessary care was not up to standard and I was let down . The staff were generally exceptional working under enormous pressure but are unable to maintain standards.

Thank you for taking the time to post your comments regarding your recent experience.

I am sorry that you feel the care provided was not up to the standard you expect from the Trust. I am saddened that you feel the Trust has let you down which is not something we would want anyone to feel.

The Mid Yorkshire Hospitals NHS Trust is continually working to tackle the impact of the Coronavirus pandemic. The delivery of safe procedures is the utmost priority for our patients, family and staff and I fully appreciate your concerns regarding the measures

being taken and in particular, within the chemotherapy department.

All visitors and patients to the Trust are asked to wear face

coverings and all of our staff are wearing the appropriate PPE (Personal Protective Equipment). We have increased the number of hand sanitisers that are available all around the hospital. Staff do try and monitor this as much as possible to help minimise any risk of infection.

Thank you for your kind words regarding our staff who are working under enormous pressure especially during these unprecedented times.

I hope that I have given you some assurance of the safety measures that Trust is taking in order to minimise the risk to all of our patients, visitors and staff.

Thank you again for your feedback and I wish you well.

Kind regards

Clare Blackburn

(Patient Liaison Improvement Lead)
