"Prompt Diagnosis and timely direction to hospital"

About: Garston Medical Centre

My husband came down with elbow bursitis on a weekend. It was quite infected and calls to 111 prompted an immediate review by out of hours GP. He had some bloods done by A&E and was prescribed oral antibiotics. However the next day his condition worsened and he came down with a high fever, redness on his elbow which was hot to touch all red flags for a potential sepsis infection. I called the surgery at 6pm and highlighted this medical emergency situation. The GP listened to us patiently and immediately asked me to get him to the hospital. My husband was kept in the hospital for 3 days as his inflammation markers were very high and he needed IV antibiotics. The attending GP’s prompt guidance on the phone and medical judgement got him timely treatment. Thank you for your efforts even in these trying times.
