"Staff take time to find what matters to him"

About: Lagan Valley Hospital / Mental Health Services for Older People (Ward 11)

(as a staff member posting for a carer/relative),

I get regular calls from the ward to update me on my father. They take the time to talk to relatives to explain what is going on. If any issues arise the staff always phone promptly to let me know eg if a fall has happened.

Communication is so important and glad to say it has been great.

The staff are great with him and take the time to find out more about him. They inquire about his music tastes, hobbies and what matters to him. The staff are fantastic.

The only issue I would currently have is that they cannot sluice soiled clothes meaning I have to take home a large quantity of soiled clothes weekly to wash in my machine at home.

Dear whatmatters2020

Thank you so much for telling the story of yours and your father's experience with us in Lagan Valley Ward 11.

Great to hear that you are enjoying good communications and can see how our staff value your father as an individual and care about what matters to him.

I will raise the laundry item for consideration. I am not sure at this point what might be done but will check out to see if there are options.

Best wishes to yourself and your father.

Conor
