I have tested positive for Covid & was feeling unwell so I called 111 who informed me that I need ambulance assistance. The paramedics looked me over & did all my obs but said they couldn’t rule out a PE & suggested I went for blood tests to rule it out.
I was apprehensive at first but because I’ve had a suspected PE when pregnant & was injection Clexaine everyday through my pregnancy I thought it best to get it checked to be on the safe side. The ambulance took me to A& E I asked them how I would get home & they said “transport”.
When the Doctor informed me that my bloods were fine & I could go home I was so relieved so I asked the Doctor what’s the protocol to arrange transport for me to get home, he wasn’t sure but he was trying to find out. The staff informed me that they was no transport & didn’t seem to have any alternative of getting me home.
In the end I had no choice but to ring my dad who is over 70yrs old type 2 diabetic has high blood pressure & under line health problems. I tested POSITIVE for Covid on Thursday & have symptoms and the hospital wouldn’t help me get home safe & now I could have infected my Dad. I am so shocked there’s no service in place to get positive Covid patients home without potentially infecting others.
