About: Royal Shrewsbury Hospital

I was admitted to A and E on the morning of 1 Nov 2020 with severe head pain. Firstly, the ambulance crew arrived within 5 minutes of our call and were fantastic, so calm and reassuring. I was immediately taken to a quiet side room as my pain was so intense and was seen very quickly and intravenous pain relief and a rehydrating drip set up. One of the duty doctors came to explain I would need a CT scan which was arranged quickly. Another doctor then came to say a lumbar puncture was needed to eliminate a brain bleed and advised me to have this done in case the CT scan had missed a small bleed. She was very clear and reassured me this was the best option. I was then transferred to AMU where the procedure was carried out that evening. I was so impressed by the calm and kindness of everyone who dealt with me on a busy day, with the additional pressures of COVID restrictions to deal with. A and E staff, I cannot thank you enough. I had first class treatment. Thank you all most sincerely.
