"Upsetting Experience"

About: Mount Chambers Medical Practice

Having arrived at 11.55am for my NHS invited health check this morning, I was told there was in fact no appointment made for me even though I said I had rung the surgery on Monday and the person the other end had made one for me for today. The insistence was so strong on behalf of the surgery that they queried whether I had made a dental appointment instead! I felt the attitude of the surgery unprofessional and demeaning. A seemingly 'audit' check was done whilst I was waiting which confirmed, in their eyes, no appointment had been made. When I got home I printed off the phone call I made to the surgery, via my provider, date and time listed - thereby proving I did make the phone call and why would I turn up if no such appointment had been made. This encounter left me distressed and bewildered at the attitude of the staff. Can I also make comment that the system in place for contact with reception speaking loudly through glass, outside to the elements, is hardly personal and confidential for patients. Those arriving with samples should also have more dignity in handing these over.
