"lack of concern"

About: General practices in Lothian

(as the patient),

Last week I called my gp practice and complained about chest pains, shortness of breath and palpitations.

I was told I'd get a call back which I did five and a half hours later which I find unacceptable,  just to think a doctor has had lunch before getting back to a patient who incidentally had already been in hospital with a serious heart condition (I'm on my second pacemaker) as I felt it necessary to phone an ambulance.

Dear beenz,

Thank you very much for sharing your feedback regarding the length of time it took for you to receive a call back from your GP. I can appreciate how worrying this must have been for you particularly with the medical history you described and I was glad that you knew to call for an ambulance if you thought it was needed.

I can explain that the majority of GP practices operate as independent practices and I wonder whether you might want to consider contacting the GP practice directly to share your feedback with them.

I do hope that the call from the GP was helpful for you and that you are now feeling better.

With best wishes,

Ann
