I've had a problem with alcohol for many years, but in the last three years it had become much worse and I was using it to get me through the day.
On the advice of my doctor I joined a group called CGL. It helped while I was talking face to face. Since covid stopped the groups and home visits I began to lie about how much I was consuming, but most of all I was kidding myself.
My support worker Greg, who was here for me day or night,(he's been a star) gave me the opportunity to have a home detox. I knew this was a chance to get my life back.
On the morning of my detox, John with his own experience (which helped me massively)! Came and talked me through the detox, while Roger my nurse spoke to me on the phone.
They were all brilliant, I knew I could ring anyone of them anytime.
My nurse would ring twice a day and take down my temperature and blood pressure! I sailed through it, with the help of these three men and without them I wouldn't be in this good place now in my life.
I keep busy as much as I can and have my little tool box (thankyou John!).
Before I know it, its time for bed and that's another day without alcohol.
That was over three weeks ago, and everything has changed in a great way.
I want to thank my boyfriend who's been my rock throughout, as I WAS a nightmare, not anymore.
Thats thanks to my support workers Greg, Roger my nurse and John ..Thankyou all from the bottom of my heart.. and thankyou CGL, You've changed my life forever!
