When I went into labour I called the labour ward and staff were so helpful. I was given advice on at home pain management, utilising breathing techniques and reassured that I can call them back at any point.
I had to call back as my contractions were becoming more frequent and the midwife I spoke to asked me to attend the labour ward.
I felt really reassured and that I was being listened to as this was my first baby and the whole experience was new to me.
My labour progressed very quickly and all the staff were so supportive during this.
Following the birth of my son I suffered a hemorrhage and lost a lot of blood. I remember my vision blurring and going spotty, the staff were so reassuring and kept me informed of what was happening , what they were doing and why they were doing it (although I don't remember much due to medication) This was very scary but i felt that I could trust the staff.
Due to my labour I was admitted to ward 17 for 4 days following giving birth. During this time I was provided with breast feeding support from the midwifes and advice for soothing my baby as well as useful hints and tips!
I was told I would be given a debrief about labour, however this has not happened (gave birth in February 2020) I am disappointed that this has not yet happened (now November 2020)
