"Urgent care / a&e attendance following 111 advice"

About: United Lincolnshire Hospitals NHS Trust

(as a service user),

I reluctantly telephoned 111 for advice following an RTA and I was advised to attend urgent care within the hour. I didn’t want to waste anyone’s time so I was very reluctant to go however I went as advised.

I was treated in a very impressively well organised manner from being triaged in under 20 minutes at urgent care and then being referred by urgent care to a&e, the nurse and doctor was aware of my presenting complaint upon arriving to a&e and a plan of care was already in place. When I spoke to the triage nurse she said the doctor had already seen me on the system and had put a care plan together.

The exceptional communication between urgent care and a&e was evident by which I was taken to a private triage Room where a bed was waiting for me immediately and a referral for an X-ray was completed very quickly and I was in and out of the department within 2 hours, of which was incredible, considering how busy the department was.

I witnessed staff working well as a team whilst under a lot of pressure and it really does make all the difference to patients who don't want to keep the medical staff from seeing more serious or unwell patients.

I really appreciated how swift and thorough the care was from the receptionist and triage nurse right through to the doctors and radiology. The care I received was exceptional.

Thank you.
