"Support in recovery"

About: Spire Manchester Hospital

(as the patient),

Now 3 weeks since surgery for partial knee replacement. Very pleased with op and procedures, particularly during Covid19.

But... and I am sure this is the same for all recovery situations, I have nothing to benchmark my progress. I am in some pain/discomfort, is this normal? I am taking drugs for pain relief, is this normal? do I take too much, should I take more? so as to aid the physio and reduce swelling? I was encouraged to apply ice to the knee, for how long, how often?

The A4 sheet initially given by physio was Black and white and totally inadequate, then replaced by photos online, but again I have nothing to compare my progress with. I have another physio appointment tomorrow.

Just like the operation and hospital stay it all feels a bit disjointed, like and orchestra without a conductor.
How about an online video with useful guidelines to the whole process, useful tips for before, during and after the hospital stay? could be done for different age groups, different procedures. With over 160,000 hip and knee replacements in the the UK alone it must be worth doing?
