"A trip to A & E"

About: Lincoln County Hospital / Accident and emergency

(as the patient),

I had great care. Prompt. Kind. Home within 4 hours which given today's situation I still think is not bad. I understand how hard everyone is working as my son works in the emergency services.

But there was a Covid patient on the ward. I overheard the staff talking about it & I was told by a doctor to keep my mask up as Covid was present.

Just wondered why they weren't moved immediately to Covid secure area of the hospital? I took all necessary precautions. Wore my mask. Used hand sanitizer after using the toilet & my xray etc.

Thank you for sharing your story with the team. I am sorry that you became concerned from the overheard conversation that we were potentially putting you at risk. We do have designated green (non Covid) and blue (Suspected Covid) areas in the department which are strictly segregated.

We work to strict guidance for segregation as to keep all of our patients safe. We can also reassure you that this principle is also applied throughout the ward areas in that we have Green and Blue wards.

If you would like me to contact you, please contact our PALS team via pals@ulh.nhs.uk and they will pass you details to me.

Regards

Jemma
