"Antenatal care"

About: Derriford Hospital / Maternity care

(as a service user),

My waters have gone, I was only 36 weeks and 5 days.

I was having contractions,  so was blue lighted to Derriford.

I was told on examination that they couldn't see if my waters had gone, so was discharged.

After having 4 other children,  I feel I know a little about having children,  and know when my waters have gone.

But I was given no information on aftercare, or advised to return to the hospital if nothing had happened at 24 hrs.

So now my baby is at risk of infection and having health problems, because its food supply has gone.

This is 2020, I feel this is basic midwifery care, and I have been pasted aside like it don't matter.

This is totally unacceptable treatment from a hospital,  who are supposed to be a training hospital and supposed to be a good hospital.

Well if my baby isn't ok, I will be holding the hospital responsible.

Thank you for bringing concerns to our attention. It is reassuring to know you subsequently met with Matron and all was found to be well.
