"Flu Jag"

About: NHS Lanarkshire

(as a carer),

My elderly mother (84) was so worried about waiting to hear about her flu jag so she was delighted when she got her letter in with her appointment.

She lives in a village which only has an hourly bus service to Airdrie where She had to go for her jag.

She attended today and she had got her days mixed up and was not actually due her jag today and they refused to give her it and she had to go back outside and wait in this cold day for 50 mins for her bus.

Where is patient centred care in all of this when She will need to make this journey again when we are trying to reduce travel in this vulnerable group.

I work in the NHS myself and think this is appalling treatment for an old women.

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. I would like to apologise for the upset that this would have caused your mother and I will explore why she was not offered her vaccination. I would therefore be grateful if your mother would be willing to give me a call on 01236 772200 to discuss her experience and we can make alternative arrangements for her to receive her vaccination.
