Recently had a cervical screening and got a results letter that said high grade (severe) abnormal cell changes. Was really quite worried about the whole thing, and the thought of having to have a colposcopy appointment as I have never had one before (although I have had abnormal cervical screenings in the past) A lovely nurse came to get me and told me exactly who would be there and also asked if I minded if a male student was there to. I didn't mind, as they have to learn and can't if people say no all the time :) And as my consultant was a male it really didn't matter to me!! There were 2 nurses, the consultant and the med student in the room. All of them put me at complete ease immediately! Very caring and compassionate, went through everything very thoroughly and afforded me as much privacy and dignity as is possible during one of these appointments!
As soon as I was in the chair and being examined the consultant said right away they would be doing the lletz procedure as he could definitely see abnormal cells. He was brilliant, was calm and talked to me through the whole thing which I really appreciated! The nurses were both brilliant too! Keeping me chatting and calm!! A really, really fantastic team of people! Feel very lucky to have been in there care today! Thank you all so much!!
