"Great all round"

About: Royal Bournemouth Hospital

I had a colonscopy. Everyone was so helpful from the moment I entered. Staff stopped to show the way.All procedures were clearly explained with only one exception. Prior to admission I should have been made aware that paracetamol should not be taken within 6 hours of the procedure. The published leaflet did not make this clear but I was outside the timescale. I was as comfortable as possible during the procedure, able to follow clearly by watching on screen. Everyone was relaxed and friendly. The debriefing was clearand I left with the impression of a department which although busy put the patient clearly first. Thank you

Dear Anthony

Many thanks for your comments and positive feedback about your experience at our Endoscopy Unit.

We are pleased to hear that you felt supported and informed by the staff looking after you and sorry to hear that you were not informed about the omission of Paracetamol prior to the procedure.

I believe you should have received an additional sheet of paper in your pre-admission paperwork during the current Covid-19 outbreak and we are sorry if this was not the case for you.

It is good to know that everything else went smoothly and you felt well cared for.

Your kind comments will be sent to the sister to share with the rest of her team

Regards

Patient Experience Team
