"Induction/birth"

About: Maternity care (Wards 47, 48 & 50) / Labour suite maternity

(as the patient),

I was induced at QEUH in October - received amazing care from all midwives and staff in antenatal ward (ward 48), Delivery ward, and Postnatal ward (Ward 47). I want to make particular mention to midwife Rachel who looked after me during the first half of my labour - she was incredibly kind, supportive and reassuring for both me and my husband. She made sure to explain everything fully and make sure we both felt comfortable with all examinations and developments. I cannot thank Rachel enough for her work then, and again 12 hours later when she came back on shift and I was still in the delivery room (having had my baby)!

Midwife Hayley looked after me during the second half of my labour and the birth of my son - she was incredibly professional and I felt very secure and looked after in her care. Both me and my husband can't stop talking about how good she was and how impressed we were with her compassion and professionalism - she was clearly born to be a midwife, and QEUH are lucky to have her in their delivery team.

On the postnatal ward my son and I were having trouble establishing breastfeeding and both getting very frustrated. Maternity Care Auxiliary Amanda (Ward 47) was a great help, and supported me to express my milk and gain confidence feeding my son. I'm so grateful to her for talking me through the alternatives to directly breastfeeding, and helping me to make the right choice for me and my son - he is now feeding very well and gaining weight rapidly!

Again, I was so impressed with my care at the QEUH and with all the team- I hope these comments can be passed on to the staff mentioned above, as they truly deserve recognition for their great work.

Thanks!
