"Rock bottom to recovery"

About: One Recovery Bucks / Aylesbury

(as a service user),

I entered treatment about 6 months ago for an addiction to alcohol. By the time I reached out for help I really was at my lowest ebb. I had destroyed my health, my finances and my relationships with friends and family. Probably only weeks from a massive health crisis I finally decided that it was time to engage and try to fix the situation. Initially I was definitely a nightmare to work with! Missed appointments and an entire lack of enthusiasm. I was assigned my keyworker, Suzy and I have to sing her praises from every mountain and rooftop possible. She NEVER gave up on me. She relentlessly pursued me in a way that made me feel like my recovery was important. She made me feel like I was important, and that totally changed my attitude and motivation.

I am now over 100 days sober and with support from Suzy and the online group on a Thursday long my sobriety may continue. The group are some of the kindest, most encouraging individuals from every walk of life and different points in their own journeys. I actually look forward to the next meeting, which is something I thought I would never say!

I cannot recommend the service enough. It has literally saved my life.
