"Flu vaccination clinic for children"

We were invited to bring our 2 year old son to the surgery for the flu vaccination delivered via nasal spray.

We arrived and were greeted at the door by a friendly member of staff wearing a tiara (as well as full PPE! ) - she immediately made my son smile. After having our temperatures checked, we waited inside for a couple of minutes. The staff had decorated the area with colourful bunting so there was lots to distract him and keep him distracted.

All the staff were wearing tiaras so my little boy was excited to have his turn with the ‘queens’! The nurse told him she was going to ‘give his nose “a little tickle” and then quickly administered the spray. They offered my son a choice of stickers which he was really proud of!

We were then directed out the door via the one way system. Within five minutes we’d been in and out - it was so efficient and safe and well thought-through.

Best of all there were no tears! I was blown away by how thoughtful and kind everyone was - to do all the extra things like tiaras, decorations and stickers, in the middle of their very stressful jobs, was just unbelievable - and so, so appreciated.
