"Infection Control"

About: Stepping Hill Hospital

the doctor who saw me in A& E was wearing a mask, I think it was upside down and did not cover his nose. When I asked him to cover nose, he did, but the mask slipped down again.

Also the room that I was put into, with 3 other people in beds and curtains open seemed small and not seperating people as advised. One person was coughing.

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us. Please accept our sincere apologies for the distress this caused you.

It is essential that all clinicians wear personal protective equipment (PPE) appropriately

All staff has been tasked with wearing masks appropriately, and this is being shared daily within our staff safety huddles and staff encouraged to challenge colleagues where they see any failure to follow Public Health England PPE guidance.

We follow social distancing guidance of 2 metres regards location and distancing of trolleys in ED.

We will share the experience with staff and reiterate again the strict adherence to Personal Protective Equipment, once again please accept our sincere apologies for this incident
