"Unacceptable change of product"

About: Specialist Nursing Services / Specialist Continence Service (North)

(as a parent/guardian),

Incontinence service is wanting to change my disabled son's pads to unacceptable other sort.

My son is in a residental home and was told he had to have an incontinence assessement he is 20 yrs old and had the pull up pants for 5yrs they meet his needs and dignity and enable him to progress ie pull them up or down. The nurse that did the assessment started by saying we could not have this product and my son had to go to taped pad which he had tried years before and were unsuitable My son wasn't even seen in person and they were very abrupt. I asked who to complain to and was told that they didn’t know because no one had before. Disgraceful service.

Hello, my name is Jane Danforth. My role involves helping our service users, volunteers and staff to understand that Notts Healthcare wants to hear stories about our services. We reply to every story and it really helps us to improve what we do, how we do it and to hear about what works well too.

Hi, I just wanted to say how sorry I was to read your feedback about the service. I want to apologise for the delay in responding. I've contacted the service for a fuller response.

It really saddens me to read about your experience. this is not what we would want anyone in our services to go through and we really value you taking the time to share your thoughts here.

I hope that the service will get back to you soon and listen to your concerns.

Kind regards

Jane

You are welcome. I'm so pleased to hear your son has got the pull up pants he needs.

I have recently spoken to the service and they are going to post another reply here.

Thanks so much for sharing your feedback as it really does make a difference.

Keep safe and well

Jane
