During a visit to the Practice for a flu injection the Nurse took my pulse, which was irregular. She advised me to seek an early appointment for an ECG and blood tests.
This I did for the following week. Within a few hours of that visit I was telephoned by the Doctor, who was concerned because he had identified a condition known as 'Atrial Arrhymia' which, if untreated, substantally increases the risk of having a 'Stroke'. He prescribed taking Lixiana for life ( I am 81 years old ). I took my first tablet yesterday and will continue for life.
I wish to express my thanks to the doctor and nurse involved, who displayed a high degree of vigilance and professionalism. I am not permitted by the NHS code to name the individuals but, no doubt, the Practice will convey my thanks to them.
