First of all I have a complaint on the shortcomings of Mental Health Services. I am now in my 70s and at age 68 I was advised by my Acute Care Consultant that they could no longer see me and would have to hand me over to the Older Peoples Service. The relationship with the OAS service never really got off the ground and I felt I was not being listened to. For example, I mentioned I had been physically assaulted by a man, a very large man, who pushed me at a party because I spurned his advances. Contact of course in Mental Health is frugal and limited and I was granted only an annual visit. The following year I told of a very serious sexual assault on me and the reply was just that they were sorry to hear this. End. I have mulled this over and over in my mind and have now decided to get private therapy whilst no longer wishing to carry on with an annual appointment from medical professionals who do not seem to care, or/and do not have the capacity to deal with a patient who comes with acute issues outwith their capability.
