(as a service user),

I called in the morning and the pre-recorded message said I should call back 2-4pm to inquire about my test result. I've been calling for a while now, after 2pm, and the message says the surgery is now closed (doesn't the surgery stay open until 6. 30pm? ). On the website, clicking on "Tests and results" leads to an empty page.

I am sorry for the difficulty you have experienced. I am not sure which day you called, we do occasionally close for 2 hours on a Thursday afternoon to allow for staff training usually between 13.00 and 15.00. It may have been that this was the case when you called. Otherwise this must be an error on our phone system, as you say we are open 8.00 to 18.30 on weekdays. I will look into this and also the empty page on the website.

Thanks so much for your reply, Dr Bench! Yes, I did call on a Thursday--so that explains it. It'd be helpful if there was a more informative message that got played on the phone when staff are unavailable due to training--otherwise it feels like the surgery just doesn't want to talk with patients!

Thanks, I agree we obviously need to add a message on those occasions when we are closed for training.
