It was a gradual demon that creeped up on me. I was 13 when I had my first alcoholic drink, shandy, shandy went to larger, cider by the time I was 20 myself and friends went out every weekend, then the odd day in the week. Then came alchco pops taste like pop but high volume. By my 30th birthday I was on all of it plus wine followed by vodka. At the time I felt young free and having the best time night clubling staying out late sometimes did not know where I was.
By 36 I found myself married and had 2 fantastic children, oddly I never drank one drop through my pregnancy and no withdrawal. After a few years I found myself in a volatile relationship and started to drink heavy, vodka morning noon and night. I was on a merry go round and couldn't get off. I started to hide what I call poison, then I knew I have a addiction..
I honestly hit rock bottom, my farther passed away, I lost my driving licence and got divorced. I used alcohol as a crutch I thought my friend. I felt worthless. Wanted to end it all.
Cgl have been my light at the end of a very dark tunnel.
Today I have completed my last and final detox 8days down. Now the road to the rest of what I hope will be a happy and healthy life with my family, children and I can not say thank you enough. Good luck to everyone who has been through this and to those who are just starting. God bless.
"My addiction to alcohol."
