"My key worker"

About: Wirral Ways to Recovery

(as a service user),

I have been working with Wirral Ways through my drug recovery for approx.  2 years.

During this time I have been allocated a Key Worker; however it was when I was introduced to David that I 'sat up' & took notice.

David has been my saviour.  When I couldn't speak to anyone about my addiction, David listened.  I began attending his Groups, of which I still attend to this day.  I firmly believe that without David's continued support I would not of remained clean for nearly a year.

If anyone is struggling with addiction, I suggest making that step and contacting the Team @ Wirral Ways.  I can't express how much gratitude & appreciation I have for the Staff @ Wirral Ways; particularly David - an amazing bloke that you'll be glad you met.

From a personal opinion, regarding this service and other similar organisations, I think if Key Workers were more correctly appointed to the service, your client involvement would improve. You need Staff with life experiences of their own in order to build the best relationships between staff & client; someone that has a University degree in understanding Drug and alcohol dependencies, is in no way ever going to fully appreciate the difficulties of an addiction. I believe life Experience is key in building strong client staff relationships.
