"The Out Of Hour Doctor Service."

About: General practices in Greater Glasgow & Clyde NHS 24 / NHS 24 (111 service)

(as the patient),

Following a seizure [due to my epilepsy]

on Monday, an on going fever - temperature,  accompanied by a stomach bug or virus, being unable to eat, having more smaller seizures, headaches, and drinking alot more - taking paracetamol , without any difference & feeling generally unwell, I called N.H.S. 24.
After speaking to the call handler,
as well as the Nurse ? I was told a Medical Practitioner - G.P. would be sent out to see me.

Following their visit, and check up of my observations - and advice given I'd like to thank the G.P / Dr, Foley, for his voluntary "Out Of Hours" given.

His professional manner was commendable.

......(Hopefully he will get to see this)....

Tell him to keep up the good work.

I have the highest level of respect for the work he, and the rest of the N.H.S. 24 staff are doing in these unprecedented Covid-19 times we're living in. Thankyou again.

(Hopefully my symptoms will resolve themselves,  without developing into anything further!)

I  ♡ THE N.H.S.

Dear LOVE YOUR NHS

I am so sorry to learn of your epilepsy and that you recently suffered a seizure. The symptoms you have described sound really unpleasant. I sincerely hope you are doing much better.

I see from your feedback that following your call to NHS 24, we arranged for a Doctor to visit you. The Doctor who attended (Dr Foley) sounds as though he provided excellent person-centred care and it's good of you to get in touch to share your experience. I am sure my colleagues within the Out of Hours service will be delighted with your positive comments.

Here at NHS 24, our staff work hard to ensure that patients receive the most appropriate care as quickly as possible. It sounds as though our Call Handler and clinical staff member recognised how unwell you were and acted promptly by arranging for you to be seen face to face by a Doctor.

These are indeed challenging times for all NHS staff due to the COVID-19 pandemic and it is good of you to acknowledge this. Thanks for doing that.

I will share your story more widely within NHS 24 so that our staff can read your kind words.

If you wish to provide any additional detail on your call to NHS 24 then it would be great to hear further from you. You can contact me at Patient.Experience@nhs24.scot.nhs.uk

With best wishes

Shona
