"Rude and judgemental staff"

About: Locala Community Partnerships CIC / Bradford Sexual Health

(as a service user),

I came into the building without a mask because I have an exemption. A receptionist brought a mask over to me and I told them I had an exemption. Minutes later while I was sat in the waiting area I heard them talking with one of the nurses who started staring at me. Then the receptionist said to them “how are you meant to prove an exemption” as though I was lying. The nurse looked at me and tutted. They did not even try to make sure I didn’t hear or see what they were saying. I have never felt so judged and humiliated and couldn’t wait to get out of the clinic altogether.

My role at Locala is to listen to service users and understand how it feels to use our services. I report back to services and managers. I support to make change where needed. I really enjoy my job. Making a difference is important to me!

Hello 123 appointment,

Thank you for taking the time to leave us your feedback.

Firstly, I am sorry that you were made to feel judged and humiliated when using one of our services. This is not okay and I will explore this with the service straight away.

Please email me on emma.boyes@locala.org.uk to understand your experiences further and also so that I can keep you fully updated on my conversations with the team and of course any service improvements that are made following your experience.

Emma
