"Inadequate care and lack of compassion"

About: University Hospital Wishaw / Emergency Department University Hospital Wishaw / Trauma & orthopaedics

(as a relative),

I love the NHS and I am a huge advocate for it and everything that it stands for BUT each time I have to use it I get really disappointed - Dr's and Nurses have been rude, showing a right knack of looking down their noses at me I find 🙊 and they force me to be 'that' relative!

Within the hospital it’s seems to me that they think it’s alright to just leave patients in pain, with fractures and take no responsibility for it! One particular nurse's attitude was "just take paracetamol”! I thought this bedside manner was nothing short of disgusting! I am ashamed of the service provided at #universityhospitalwishaw

Dear Pascha2017,

Thank you for taking the time to post your experience of your visit to University Hospital Wishaw.

I was concerned to read how you have been made feel by the nurses and Drs and this certainly is not the standards of compassion that we would expect.

I am sorry that you feel that the pain management was not appropriate given your clinical condition.

I think it may be helpful for us to review your care pathway during your visit to see if there can be any learning from this and I would ask that you contact out patient affairs team either via e mail at PatientAffairs.Wishaw@lanarkshire.scot.nhs.uk or telephone 01698 366 558.

Once again I would like to apologise for your poor experience and will look into this when you have made contact.

I hope that you are pain free and recovering well.

Best wishes

Andy
