The care my Dad received at the end of his life, was exemplary. Ambulance Staff, as ever were absolutely wonderful with my Mum & Dad, keeping them informed of Dad`s condition & being gentle & reassuring. From the moment my Mum & I accessed the main building to visit Dad, we were treated with politeness, respect & kindness from all Doctors, Reception, Nursing & Religious Staff .
At such a difficult & stressful time for us with Dad being so ill & in great pain, & with the dystopian covid situation ongoing, my Mum & I were reassured & comforted by all the Hospital Staff who helped us. My Dad was treated with utmost care & dignity during his last hours at the Hospital. I wish we could remember the names of everyone, but a huge Thank you to you all for the dignity & genuine caring that my Dad received during his last, troubled hours.
My Mum & I were also treated with compassion, efficiency & politeness by everyone we spoke to. My Dad was first located in the Resuscitation area in a covid screened area, my Mum & I were allowed a long visit until Dad needed to sleep , Staff kept us informed of Dad`s care & were polite & helpful whenever we asked for anything. A member of Staff kindly made us a hot drink & reassured us. Soon after we left, Dad was given a lovely single room with a window in Collingtree B .
Staff phoned my Mum when they realised my Dad was nearing the end of his life. My Mum had been so stressed by the previous weeks caring for Dad at home & she was so comforted by seeing Dad in such a lovely room, with kind, caring Staff attending to his every need & never leaving his side. They even put a warm pad on a painful area of his abdomen, to comfort him. The Staff were so kind to my Mum & a Hospital Priest spoke to & prayed for my Dad. Mum was so grateful to see Dad finally at peace, surrounded by such lovely people. On behalf of all our Family, we can not Thank you all enough for providing some positive relief during what has been a horrible year of my Dad`s illness.
